So many projects, so little time!

Lately, I've decided that I really must do an inventory of my stash. I keep buying skeins of the same colors of specialty threads over and over, simply because I have no idea what I already have. It also doesn't help that my stash currently lives in various corners of two different residences. So 2006 will be my year to create a master inventory list. Pretty ambitious, huh?

I started out the other night by going through 3 bags of specialty threads. Much to my horror, I realized that I have several nearly-full skeins of Needle Necessities overdyed threads that do not have their numbers attached. Now I have no idea what the colors are! I believe that I can figure it out by tracking down the patterns that I used them on, and working backward from there. That's a bit of detective work for another day, though.

Slowly but surely, my stash is migrating into BF's house. Soon he will be wondering what happened to his previously male domain, and why there are bits of floss stuck to every piece of his clothing. Animals mark their territory in different ways-- I believe that stitchers use floss for this purpose. LOL

Image Hosting by PictureTrail.comI've also discovered a project or two that I had completely forgotten about. While rummaging through baskets at my condo last weekend, I came across a partially stitched Charmed Hearts kit by Shepherd's Bush. And I also found this little snowman ornament, which I *thought* was completed YEARS ago. But alas, his beads and charm have not been stitched on. Add that to the list of things to do.

Next up will be patterns-- there is a large shopping bag filled to near-bursting capacity just waiting for me to inventory. Sadly, this is nowhere near all of the patterns. I'm not sure, but I think this bag contains some of the patterns that are on the "must stitch" list. I'm almost afraid to look in that bag, because I know it will make me want to start even more projects.

But isn't it fun to go through all that stash and "relive" the excitement of it all. ;) You can go to Needle Necessities site http://www.needlenecessities.com/catalog/catalog.html and they have a color catalog of all their various flosses/cottons/etc. I wasn't sure what you had so click the appropriate link and it will show you everything you ever wanted to know. ;) I'm sure you can match up your unlabeled skeins this way. :D Good luck! Love the snowman too! :D

Love the snowman! Inventory for my threads is next on my list since I do pretty well keeping up on the patterns.

I've done the same with my NN flosses... It's strange because, as far as threads are concerned, I'm quite organized (people who know me would have a great laugh).
I love sorting my stash, it makes me feel "rich", and at the same time, I always think I should be more reasonable with cross stitch. But it has turned out into passion, and this word just doesn't go with reason...
I absolutely love this snowman ornament! It looks great! Nice fabric too!
Have a nice stitching WE!

Have fun looking thru your stash & sorting fibers.

Your Quaker Diamond turned out great. Very classy.

Finishing is always last on my list, too. Once in awhile, I need something for a gift (or whatever) and bite the bullet : )

Do not give up! Just dig in to that stash issue...You may find something you had forgotten...Wish I could explain better but I can't. My stash is quite small...The WIPs (2 passive ones and 1 active one) are in plastic bags (the active one has its own; it is in the same bag as the yarns). The ones I have not touched yet...they are in closet or something like that in my livingroom.
